The scope of the John Brooks Photograph Collection consistes of 22 photographs and 332 color slides pertaining to recreational activities and shipwrecks within the Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary.

History

During the summer of 2004, Ventura, CA based photographer John Brooks was contracted through Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary to capture promotional and documentary photographs of shipwrecks and recreational activities within the Sanctuary boundaries. During their time through the poject Brooks captured images of Thunder Bay Island, "Old" Presque Island Lighthouse, the Monohansett shipwreck, and other coastal wreck sites.

Arrangement

Color slides were arranged by photograpger and TBNMS staff prior to donation to ACl. Half of slides are arranged in 35mm slide transperant sheets and the other half in original boxes provided by photographer.

Immediate Source of Acquisition

Collection donated to ACL in September of 2004 by TBNMS staff. Accesion paperwork completed in 2023.
