History of Organization
The National Grange of the Order of Patrons of Husbandry is a fraternal organization in the United States that promotes the economic and political welfare of communities and agriculture by encouraging families to unite. Established in 1867 after the Civil War, the Grange is the oldest national agricultural advocacy group in America. Notable achievements resulting from Grange advocacy efforts include the enactment of the Granger Laws and the introduction of rural free mail delivery services.
While not much is known about the Alpena Grange 1323 it seems that the organization existed at minimum between 1906 and 1968. Early accounts note that the grange held meetings in Wilson township at the house of Peter or Harry Bedard.
